The saint became known after the episode in which her image was found by fishermen in 1717, in the Paraíba do Sul River, in São Paulo. Other versions say that this image found was of Our Lady of the Conception, made of terracotta, measuring 36 centimeters in height and weighing 2.5 kilos.
According to theorists, the saint was thrown into the water by someone who wanted to get rid of the image, which was already broken.
